Pit fire pottery
With Andrea Raich, clay building & pottery expert, we make jewellery or other small utensils, which are fired with a pit fire kiln we built ourselves. One of the oldest firing techniques is pit firing. Archaeological findings prove that ceramics were already being made in pits in the Neolithic Age (ca. 4000 BC).
Pleasure in the experimental design of ceramic surfaces. The pit firing offers the possibility to create coloured surfaces without the application of glaze, only with the help of fire, smoke and the addition of various natural materials, salt and oxides. This creates a lively, inimitable surface.
On Friday from 10 to 13 o'clock we potter together and start the drying process. On Saturday from 17 to 18 o'clock we build the pit fire kiln and start the firing. On Monday evening 6 p.m. or Tuesday noon 12 p.m. the ceramics are finished and can be taken home.
Costs: 15 Euro. With the proceeds we support the "Vinschger Waldkinder".
Maximum 10 people.
Those who cannot come on Friday can bring their pottery for the pit fire on Saturday. Please make an appointment: +39 377 3737616

What is the infrastructure?
We do pottery in a large fire teepee for 80 people. We limit the number of people to 10 per tepee. We have three tepees, which stand idyllically surrounded by trees and the mountains on the fairground of the municipality of Taufers. There is a large kitchen and space for luggage in the wooden house. There are sanitary facilities and enough space as well as a swing. Parking lots are nearby.
How is the food supply?
We have self-catering and we cook together over the fire or on the stove. Please bring something for Friday, which we can share with each other, as well as food, if possible vegan, which we can use for meals.
Arrival by public transport
From Bozen to Taufers it is about 2,5 hours for 16 Euro. In South Tyrol the app Südtirol2Go is recommended.
The bus stop is Taufers i.M./Tubre,St.Nikolaus. From there it is about 800 m. In direction Via Avigna, 3, 39020 Tubre BZ (Taufers im Münstertal) there are signs "Dorfplatz".
Since this is a charity event, to whom do you donate the proceeds and how much? Can you donate separately?
We donate 100% minus our costs and expenses for the speakers*. Separate donations please to Nicole Daniel, head of the "Vinschger Waldkinder". Experience nature Vinschgau, IBAN: IT44H 08110 58451 000301233009, SWIFT: RZSBIT21115
Health & personal responsibility
We support the call for "safe into the new start" Please read the information here: https://neustart.provinz.bz.it/sicher-in-den-neustart.asp
In addition to the official demand for personal responsibility, we would like to make the call for personal responsibility more precise: The cleaner everyone keeps the air, the more likely they are to have a healthy time together. Depending on the level of air pollution, viruses can develop a particularly dangerous combination, since pathogens can mix with toxic fine dusts and can more easily switch off the human immune system.

Therefore, please keep the air clean from toxic compounds (car exhaust, cigarette smoke, spraying deodorants in closed rooms). Air is the number one foodstuff.
