Guided tour through four museums and public spaces in Bolzano in the company of researchers from Eurac Research

Saturday, December 13, 2025, 10 AM – 1 PM
Start: 10 AM at Eurac Research

"Through the Prism of Borders" explores the manifold meanings of the border and its political, spatial, and personal narratives. The works of eight international artists — Pamela Dodds, Esra Ersen, Boris Missirkov & Georgi Bogdanov, Ivan Moudov, Karin Schmuck, Zorka Wollny, and ZimmerFrei (Anna de Manincor) — address themes related to migration, collective memory, identity, and the relationship with the landscape, transforming the border into a space of encounter and transformation.

The exhibition, produced by Lungomare as part of the European project B-Shapes – Borders Shaping Perceptions of European Societies, is distributed across various locations in the city of Bolzano — the BZ ’18–’45 Documentation Exhibition at the Victory Monument, Eurac Research, the Mercantile Museum, the Civic Museum, and the South Tyrol Museum of Natural Sciences — creating a dialogue between contemporary art, history, science, and landscape.

On Saturday, December 13, from 10 AM to 1 PM, the public is invited to take part in a special guided tour in the company of the researchers from the Institute for Minority Rights at Eurac Research.

The route will wind from Eurac Research → Mercantile Museum → Victory Monument, offering an opportunity to deepen the relationships between art, research, and society, and to reflect on how representations of the border influence our collective perceptions and identities.

The Institute for Minority Rights (Eurac Research) is an interdisciplinary centre that deals with minority protection, autonomies, and the governance of diversity. Based in Bolzano, it recognizes the diversity of South Tyrolean society– its autonomy and minority rights system – as a research base and as a reference point for providing minority consultation worldwide. The institute is a partner in the European project B-Shapes – Borders Shaping Perceptions of European Societies.

An invitation to look at borders through the lens of research and art, in a dialogue between institutions, languages, and perspectives.
