In this first exhibition with the significant title Zwischenraum (intermediate spaces), precisely these commonalities between art and architecture are elaborated in a kind of interface, reflecting the artistic thinking of the two curators (architect and artist). The exhibited works move in a border zone between art and space. They address the challenge of empty space and how it can be modified and experienced.
Peter Sandbichler (A) and Marlies Baumgartner (I) modify gallery spaces, play with negative and positive space, with interspace and surrounding space. The different working methods of these two artists intertwine, complement and enliven each other, opening up new perspectives. Traces in space. This gives rise to new connections.
The curators continue these connections in an unprecedented collaboration with the Pharmacy Museum. The museum's magnificent rooms will be filled with new works by the two artists Michael Fliri (I) and Christian Piffrader (I). As in an alchemical laboratory, the exhibits will fit into the museum environment. Between the artistic positions and the objects in the collection, spaces and seams are created that refer back to each other. These positions are complemented by a special walking stick, which in turn refers to existing objects in the collection.
The strategies of the two exhibition locations merge into a new melody composed by Manuela Kerer. A composition that will spread throughout Brixen.
