It happened suddenly, for reasons unknown, when an angel found himself hovering over the heavens of the Earth. The village madman remembers it well – for he was the first to see him, and the last to ever forget him. The angel glides, awestruck and deeply moved, over celestial expanses he had until now only dreamed of or imagined – until a priest shoots at him. Confused and overwhelmed by this wondrous being, and tormented by guilt, the priest decides to take him in and care for him: an angel, marvelous and mysterious, who observes human life with astonished eyes.

Yet this life gradually becomes heavy and increasingly complicated; primarily due to the hostile atmosphere and rejection in the village, which refuses to accept the foreign visitor, the angel. He is condemned – because of his otherness, his altered form, his strangeness. Burdened by mockery and humiliation, yet unable to return to the heavenly realm, the angel – trapped in the earthly world – finds solace in the music of the violin, an instrument he plays masterfully, and “refuge” only in Delia’s eyes and her love…
