Concert

The brass quintet Urban Brass was founded in 2016 at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. Its members received their musical training from professors whose outstanding reputations extend far beyond the university. In the same year, the quintet won first prize at the 10th edition of the renowned Jan Koetsier Competition in Munich, which proved to be the initial spark for the five musicians' further collaboration. The ensemble is known for its diverse formats: from children's concerts, including music education programs, to performances with organ or other instrumental soloists, to classical concert evenings, these versatile musicians can be experienced in a variety of settings.
In recent years, the ensemble has established itself in the brass scene and, in addition to concerts at home and abroad, has also performed at renowned festivals such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Heidelberg Spring Festival, and the Mainz Music Summer.
The concert in the courtyard of the Hofburg Brixen will feature trumpeter Bernhard Plagg from Mals, where he gained his first musical experience in the local brass band and with his first trumpet teacher, Anton Stecher. Since the 2016/17 season, he has been engaged as a trumpeter with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
