A biographical journey to discover Alan Turing, the father of modern computing.
The British researcher Alan Turing has gone down in history as one of the most revolutionary scientists of the 20th century. Considered the father of the computer and artificial intelligence, he was also the man who developed a machine capable of deciphering the Enigma code used by the Nazis during World War II. Thanks to his invention, the Allies were able to intercept and understand German secret messages, gaining a crucial advantage in the conflict.
But there is a side of his story that remained in the shadows for a long time: Turing was persecuted for his homosexuality and was sentenced to cruel hormonal therapy. Overcome by isolation and injustice, he took his own life in 1954 at the age of just 42. His is the story of a genius who gave humanity one of its greatest innovations but was also a victim of the prejudices of his time.

His story was brought to the stage in the play La Machine de Turing by Benoit Solès, which premiered in 2019 at the Théâtre Michel in Paris, winning four Molière Awards. In Germany, the play was first performed in October 2020 in Hamburg. His life also inspired the famous 2014 film The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley.
