Christkind exhibition organised by the association Christkind und Klosterarbeiten Überetsch.

The association 'Freunde der Klosterarbeiten Südtirol' was founded 20 years ago by a group of people from different backgrounds, united by their passion for making and collecting these precious objects. With our work and passion, we contribute to the promotion and preservation of folk art culture and aim to preserve the tradition and customs of religious handicrafts. On the occasion of this exhibition, the women of the Überetsch-Unterland region will exhibit works depicting baby Jesus, baby Jesus in swaddling clothes and convent work, made with love and care using materials such as silver thread, gold bouillon, brocade, velvet, silk fabrics and pearls, according to the models once used in women's convents also in South Tyrol. The techniques and skills required to produce the delicate monastic artefacts have been acquired through various courses attended at home and abroad, while finding the expensive materials is an increasing challenge. In addition to the various handicrafts that we like to display in exhibitions, the making of the Jesus Children and their veneration are of great importance to us. Gerti Lechner President
