Singer Pur unites Palestrina and Arvo Pärt: two masters of sacred vocal music with a distinctive and deeply moving musical language.

In its programme "Ein Brausen vom Himmel" (A Rushing from Heaven), Singer Pur pays tribute to two outstanding composers of sacred vocal music: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the great reformer of Roman church music in the 16th century, and the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, who has profoundly shaped musical development in recent decades as the creator of mystical, transcendent soundscapes. Both have established their own distinctive and deeply moving musical language that captivates performers and audiences alike. Selected motets, masses and madrigals by Palestrina and sacred vocal works by Pärt have always been dramaturgical highlights in Singer Pur's concerts. It is therefore a heartfelt concern of the ensemble to present the touching vocal music of both composers together. The programme focuses on enchanting settings of the biblical Song of Songs, fervent Marian prayers and heartfelt pleas for peace. And not least, it is the jubilant Pentecost sounds from Palestrina's pen that rise like "a rushing from heaven" in a vocal serenade.
