About Regional Festival Musica Sacra

The Regional Festival of Sacred Music is an annual concert series founded in 1972 in Trentino-Alto Adige, presenting sacred music from all eras, styles, and traditions in the historic churches of both provinces.

Founded in 1972 with a concert in Arco, the Regional Festival of Sacred Music has been presenting sacred music of all styles, eras, and geographic origins for over fifty years in the churches of Trentino-Alto Adige – from Gregorian chant to contemporary composition. The association, jointly supported by the provinces of Bolzano and Trento, combines great choral and symphonic masterworks with local choral and organ traditions, bringing together international artists and regional musicians. Since 1992, each edition has been built around a monographic theme. Outstanding highlights include the legendary performances by the Hilliard Ensemble with Jan Garbarek, the Italian premiere of the Missa Salisburgensis, and a solemn mass celebrated by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger with the Regensburger Domspatzen.
