For over ten years, Sarah Chaksad has been enriching the European jazz scene with various ensembles. The Swiss alto and soprano saxophonist and composer is internationally acclaimed for her productions and concerts.

"Chaksad treats her orchestra like a painter does their palette. Each instrument represents a tone color, all of which can be combined and blended to create an almost infinite spectrum of sounds that the composer boldly applies to the canvas." (Südkurier, 2024)

Sarah Chaksad sees her project with the Large Ensemble as a kind of advocacy for unity and solidarity that transcends national and political borders. Together combines the vast richness of timbres, depth, and dynamics of a large formation with striking, individual solos. Sophisticated rhythms, vibrant joy of playing, and some rarely heard influences in jazz result in intellectually and emotionally compelling music — a sound experience not often encountered.

With the kind support of the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
