HUNGARIAN BARON ROLAND EÖTVÖS (1848–1919), AN OUTSTANDING SCIENTIST AND
PASSIONATE ALPINIST, VISITED TOBLACH/SCHLUDERBACH FOR 40 YEARS IN ORDER TO
EXPLORE THE DOLOMITES: ALONG WITH THE FAMOUS GUIDE MICHL INNERKOFLER AND GUIDES
FROM AMPEZZO – MOST OF THE TIMES ALSO IN COMPANY OF HIS TWO DAUGHTERS – HE
UNDERTOOK A LOT OF HIGH- ALTITUDE MOUNTAIN AND CLIMBING TOURS, ACHIEVING ALSO
SOME FIRST ASCENTS.
