Opening and Guided Tour through four Museums and Public Spaces in Bolzano with the curators and artists

Saturday, November 15, 2025, 10 AM – 2 PM
Start: 10 AM at the Civic Museum of Bolzano

"Through the Prism of Borders" explores the manifold meanings of the border and its political, spatial, and personal narratives. The works of eight international artists — Pamela Dodds, Esra Ersen, Boris Missirkov & Georgi Bogdanov,Ivan Moudov, Karin Schmuck, Zorka Wollny, and ZimmerFrei (Anna de Manincor) — address themes related to migration, collective memory, identity, and the relationship with the landscape, transforming the border into a space of encounter and transformation.

The exhibition, produced by Lungomare as part of the European project B-Shapes – Borders Shaping Perceptions of European Societies, is distributed across various locations in the city of Bolzano — the BZ ’18–’45 Documentation Exhibition at the Victory Monument, Eurac Research, the Mercantile Museum, the Civic Museum, and the South Tyrol Museum of Natural Sciences — creating a dialogue between contemporary art, history, science, and landscape.

On Saturday, November 15, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the public is invited to take part in a special guided tour together with all the artists and curators of the project. The route will start from the Civic Museum of Bolzano and will wind through the various museums and exhibition spaces of the exhibition: Civic Museum → Mercantile Museum → Museum of Natural Sciences → Victory Monument → Eurac Research.

The visitors will be guided by three prominent figures in the European curatorial scene:

  • Katia Anguelova, independent curator, whose research focuses on collaborative practices, oral storytelling, and interventions in public space;

  • Angelika Burtscher, curator and co-director of Lungomare, involved in trans-disciplinary projects that intertwine art, design, and urban space, such as FLUX – River Explorations and Actions;

  • Marion Oberhofer, curator at the Vienna Museum of Technology, who deals with artistic and scientific practices related to climate, memory, and decolonial perspectives.

A unique opportunity to meet the artists and curatorsdiscover the connections between the different exhibition venues, and be guided on a journey that crosses geographical, linguistic, and symbolic borders.
