The South Tyrol Marble Symposium "Vinschgau Kristallin" transforms Laas and Schlanders for three weeks into places of art, culture, and encounters.

Art and Culture in Vinschgau

From July 13 to August 4, 2024, the International Marble Symposium South Tyrol transforms Laas and Schlanders into places where tradition meets innovation. Under the motto "Vinschgau Connects," international artists create works from Laas and Göflan marble in public spaces.

The symposium is organized by the municipalities, local administrations, and the companies operating the marble quarries in Schlanders/Göflan and Laas. A team of three curators selected six sculptors and two artist pairs, the so-called "skaters."

The sculptors come from Italy, Spain, Germany, Ukraine, China, and Colombia. Their marble sculptures will be permanently exhibited. The "skaters" enrich the event with sound art and video mapping on the theme of marble.

A diverse supporting program with tours, exhibitions, concerts, and culinary delights ensures encounters. The highlight and closing event is the "Marble and Apricots" festival on August 3 and 4. The symposium offers an opportunity to rediscover Vinschgau.
