"Il fuoco invisibile"
Since 2013, Xylella has caused the death of millions of olive trees in Puglia, some of which are centuries old or even thousands of years old, an irreplaceable heritage. In the province of Lecce, the scale of the disaster has been such that it is as if an invisible fire has razed endless fields to the ground.
"The invisible fire" is precisely the title of the latest novel by Daniele Rielli, a Bolzano-born writer who made his debut in the world of journalism and writing under the pseudonym Quit the doner, as author of reportages and the blog of the same name. He later abandoned the pseudonym and published his first novel "Lascia stare la gallina" for Bompiani in 2015 and "Storie dal mondo nuovo" in 2016 for Adelphi, which was followed by "Odio" for Mondadori in 2020. In addition to his novels, Rielli has also worked across other media, for example with the documentary "Hockeytown" which he wrote and produced, or with his podcast "PDR" on YouTube and major audio platforms, as well as stories for television and theatre. As a journalist, he has also collaborated with the magazines Domani, Il Foglio, Il Venerdì di Repubblica, La Stampa and Internazionale to name but a few.
