Guided Tour: Fountains in the city center of Bolzano
The frog fountain on Bolzano's Bahnhofplatz is one of the city's landmarks, which also conceals a number of hidden messages. This also applies to the Laurin Fountain in front of the Provincial Parliament and other remarkable fountains in the immediate vicinity. During an art and cultural history tour, we will explore water, the city's history and deeper symbolism.
The tour starts at the Frog Fountain from 1930, which was hit by a bomb during the Second World War and rebuilt in 1955; we visit the - now disused - fountain at the tower of the railway station, the Laurin Fountain at Silvius Magnago Square, the monument to the minnesinger Walther von der Vogelweide and the fountains at Pfarrplatz.
