Graffiti Exhibition
With Graffiti, Museion presents the first institutional exhibition in
Italy to focus on the relationship between graffiti and contemporary
fine art, and how they have influenced each other. Instead of
historicizing graffiti as an “outsider” practice, the show combines
works by renowned artists who used spray paint between the 1950s
and 1970s, paintings by legendary graffiti writers from the 1980s, and
a wide range of exhibits by international contemporary artists who
have incorporated graffiti into their work for various reasons and in
multiple forms. Graffiti also introduces a new long-term Museion
research line focusing on soft and non-violent forms of resistance,
and on art as a social and urban practice.
