Based on Anita Pichler's short stories 'The Women of Fanis', Anna Gschnitzer poetically rediscovers the stories of princely female figures.

"The stories of Fanis are stories of time before time and of a place before the place they name. They tell of becoming and passing away, of earth, water, wind and fire. They tell of the founding of an empire, of battles, victories and defeats and of the dissolution, the forgetting and disappearance of this reality. At the end there is only a ray of sunshine, Sorejina, the time after time, a beginning." (Anita Pichler) The mythical tale of the kingdom of Fanis is the starting point of this play with music. Author Anna Gschnitzer poetically rediscovers the stories of the women of Fanis. The overpowering presence of princely female figures is unique in the traditions of the Alpine region. Based on Anita Pichler's stories "The Women from Fanis", a play is created that not only questions the past, but also the present and the future. What do the Fanis tales tell us about the forces of nature in the age of the climate crisis? How do we read the stories of becoming and passing away on the threshold of nuclear war? The Musicbanda Franui from East Tyrol accompanies the evening live with their unmistakable sound battery and with newly arranged and composed songs and pieces of music in search of the old layers of alpine folk music, of sounds guaranteed never to have been found by folk music custodians, of tunes that have not been fed into the official songbooks and broadcasting bars.
