The Palazzo Mercantile in Bolzano hosts the fifth edition of the Bolzano Business Law Day, this year focused on recent developments in credit law. The conference is organised by the International Forum for Business Law - Science & Practice (IntFoWir), chaired by Christoph Perathoner, and the Innsbruck Forum for Banking and Insurance Law, chaired by Simon Laimer.

The event takes a comparative approach across Italy, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, addressing key developments in credit law: the reform of consumer credit legislation, credit granting, the organisation and supervision of financial operators, sanctioning mechanisms, and the relationship between regulation, innovation and open, functional markets.

Following the opening by Christoph Perathoner and institutional greetings from Alfred Aberer (Bolzano Chamber of Commerce), Francesca Bortolotti (Bolzano Court) and Alexander Rieper (Confindustria Alto Adige), the conference is divided into two thematic sessions.

The first session on the reform of consumer credit law (chair: Laura Valle, Bolzano) includes contributions on consumer credit and the internal market (Olaf Riss, Vienna), an overview of the reform in Germany, Italy and Austria (Michael Stürner, Konstanz; Christoph Perathoner, Bolzano/Munich; Christoph Kronthaler and Simon Laimer, Innsbruck), reports from Liechtenstein and Switzerland (Bernhard Burtscher, Vaduz; Thomas Koller, Bern), and a comparative summary (Andreas Schwartze, Innsbruck).

The second session on credit granting, organisation and supervision (chair: Walter Crepaz, Bolzano) covers organisational obligations under the reformed consumer credit law (Julia Told, Innsbruck), creditworthiness assessment (Peter Agstner, Bolzano), the new fee transparency directive (Diana Niksova, Innsbruck), EBA guidelines for credit granting in Italy and Austria (Matteo De Poli, Padua; Thomas Müller, Innsbruck), and administrative and criminal law risks in credit transactions (Riccardo Borsari, Carola Pagliarin, Padua; Wilhelm Bergthaler, Bernd Wiesinger, Linz).

Closing remarks will be delivered by Claudia Fuchs (University of Vienna) on regulation and deregulation in the service of open and functional markets, followed by closing thanks from Simon Laimer.

The conference will be held in Italian and German.
