About Merano Racecourse

The Maia Racecourse is one of the most beautiful in Europe. There are two seasons of steeplechasing and other horse races from April to September On the last Sunday of September there is the most important race meeting of the year: the Merano South Tyrol Grand Prix.

Tips
To adapt to the high temperatures as a spectator at summer events at the racecourse, consider the following measures:

- Choose light-coloured, loose, and breathable clothing made from natural fibres such as linen to stay cool. Wear a hat or cap to protect your face from the sun and sunglasses to shield your eyes from UV rays.

- Use a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (at least SPF 30) and reapply it regularly, especially if you are sweating.

- Bring a reusable water bottle and drink regularly to maintain hydration.

- Stay in shaded areas as much as possible to avoid direct sun exposure.

- Wet wipes or cool packs can help lower your body temperature. Place them on your wrists, neck, or other pulse points. Hand fans or battery-operated portable fans can also provide a refreshing breeze.

- Avoid heavy, greasy meals. Opt for light, water-rich snacks such as fruits and vegetables to keep yourself energized and cool.

These measures will help you stay comfortable and safe while enjoying the summer events at the racecourse.

Approach
From the town centre, you can reach the racecourse via the marked cycle path. Look out for the small red cycle path signs.
Parking
There are reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities in Gampenstraße.

Bicycle parking spaces are located at the entrance of the Racecourse. Take care not to park bicycles and e-rollers carelessly. They can pose a danger to blind and visually impaired people as they create obstacles to safely walking along paths and finding entrances. People in wheelchairs and parents with pushchairs can also be hindered by carelessly parked bicycles. Please use the bicycle parking spaces provided.

Public transportation
We suggest opting for public transportation for your travels. Accessing the racecourse is hassle-free via the Merano-Bolzano train link, starting from the main railway station and disembarking at the Untermais station. Another option is to hop on buses 211 or 212 from the city center, heading towards the 'Bahnhof Untermais' stop. It's merely a 5-minute stroll from there to the racecourse entrance.
