Concert

After a long silence we can now announce: Westbound.
The charity tour starts in August. 8 concerts. Make way, optimism wants to pass!
"Westbound: The doctors on the optimism train". It took three years to get the Westbound line-up, the doctors' musical group for the world, back together. The formation led by Toni Pizzecco is back for a summer tour in South Tyrol's town squares with a new show entitled 'TRAIN FOR OPTIMISM'. 8 concerts starting in Garda and ending in the usual grand finale in Bolzano at Piazza Walter. Concerts in which we will listen to the music of pop-rock classics but also talk about the great optimism that music has given us over the last forty years and which, pandemic permitting, we must rekindle in our hearing and in our hearts. Rediscovering ourselves with a spirit turned towards historical pieces such as 'Hotel California', 'Sound of Silence' or 'The Boxer'. All this under the common denominator of optimism, a word that has become a rarity these days.

The train is leaving: with new musicians, new songs and a show full of novelties. Westbound has been part of the South Tyrolean music scene for more than 40 years. On stage as always: Toni Pizzecco and Walter Nogler, and they will be leading the way. And three women hold the course: Gabi Janssen Pizzecco on bass with her daughters Victoria and Alexandra. Four new musicians have also boarded the train. Drummer Fabian Omobono, nephew of the Pizzecco family, returns from the USA after 10 years and strengthens the family presence on stage. The exceptional musicians Davide Dalpiaz on piano and Marco Gardini on electric guitar, already part of the group 30 years ago, are back with great enthusiasm. Francesco Bianchi, the youngest, surprises with his voice and skill on electric guitar.

Westbound does good. Once again this year, the band is supporting needy people in developing countries with its concerts. The proceeds from the 2023 summer tour will be donated to the Attat hospital in Ethiopia. For many years, the hospital south of Addis Ababa has been the heart project of Doctors for the World. Only recently, operating theatres have been built and equipped and a new ward has been set up. The hospital is the referral hospital for one million people.
