Water in Historical Tyrol: New Research Presented
A new scientific publication shows how water in the Tyrolean region has historically been used as a vital resource and source of energy, but also as a potential risk. The volume will be presented on March 19 in Bolzano.
Water is a source of life, energy, and cultural heritage. At the same time, it can pose risks, be a source of conflict, and present challenges. How people in the Tyrolean region have managed this essential resource over the centuries is illustrated in the new scholarly volume “WATER as a Resource in Historical Tyrol and the Surrounding Areas.” The publication is edited by historian and university lecturer Georg Neuhauser and Armin Torggler from the South Tyrol Museum of Mining. The volume collects contributions from the First International Resource Conference of the Euroregion Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Trentino held in 2024.
The research findings will be presented on Thursday, March 19, during the book launch. The event will take place at 6:00 PM in the underground E-Werk of Eisackwerk GmbH at the St. Anton waterworks near Bolzano.
Important: For safety reasons, access to the E-Werk is not permitted for people with pacemakers.
