A new scientific publication shows how water in the Tyrol region was historically used as a source of life and energy, but also posed a risk. The volume will be presented on March 19 in Bolzano.

Water is a foundation of life, energy source, and cultural asset. At the same time, it can represent a risk, a source of conflict, and a challenge. The newly published scientific anthology, “WATER as a Resource in Historical Tyrol and Adjacent Areas”, edited by historian and university lecturer Georg Neuhauser and Armin Torggler from the South Tyrol Mining Museum, shows how people in the Tyrol region have managed this central resource over the centuries.

The volume brings together contributions from the First International Resource Conference of the European Region Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Trentino in 2024.

The research findings will be presented on Thursday, March 19:

first at a press conference at 11:00 AM at the South Tyrol Archaeology Museum, and

at 6:00 PM at a book presentation at the E-Werk of Eisackwerk GmbH at the St. Anton waterworks near Bolzano.

Important: Access to the E-Werk is not permitted for people with pacemakers for safety reasons.
