Comedy by Jeff Baron TO THE PLAY The play begins as a harmless comedy... A grumpy old widower is almost run over by a young man, who is then forced to look after the old man once a week for the next six months. Amused, the audience can follow the involuntary comedy of this "forced community" and the increasingly cheerful looseness between the unequal duo; but then buried feelings and unshakeable prejudices break in on the budding friendship. Old wounds open up and both become even more aware of their own loneliness. Discriminatory and hurtful remarks about everything "different" cause the situation to escalate. After a fierce battle of words, the old man accidentally reveals a dark secret and thus unintentionally makes it possible to overcome mental walls...
