"Vacche magre" is a bilingual play (german and italian)

South Tyrol, 1926. Georg, 64 years old, lives on a farm and has been a widower for seven years. He is the father of two children, Margit and Andreas, who fell as a Kaiserjäger in the trenches of the Col di Lana. Georg looks after the animals on the farm, grows potatoes and has some fruit trees: Aurelio, 27 years old, recently moved to South Tyrol and works as a municipal secretary. He comes from the Emilian Apennines, the war touched him but took a brother away. Up here he works for the Podest. He knows a little German and meets Georg one morning at the end of September. Their rude encounter soon leads to a frank confrontation in which the two realise that they do not come from such distant worlds. As they get to know each other better, they realise they have more in common than meets the eye.
