TRENTO FILM FESTIVAL – BOLZANO | BOZEN 2025 - Nuova Libreria Cappelli
Books, films, music, photographs… there are many ways and languages through which the mountain can be narrated, described, and interpreted. Since 1952, the Trento Film Festival has been exploring every facet to offer its audience the best visions of that wonderful kaleidoscope that are the highlands of the world. And after the Trento edition, which ended on May 4, as tradition has it, Bolzano will host events and appointments of the longest-running international festival of mountain cinema and cultures.
The Bolzano edition 2025 will unfold in two distinct phases. The first in June, with MontagnaLibri and many events related to literature and publishing, involving numerous partners and locations throughout the city. On October 22 and 23, the spotlight will instead be on cinema, with two days dedicated to the best mountain film productions: screenings, accompanied by meetings with guests and directors, will be held at the FilmClub Bolzano – Capitol. From October 4 to 31, the Sala delle Aste of the Palazzo Mercantile will host the exhibition Flavio Faganello. Photographs in Motion – Fotografien, die bewegen, dedicated to the figure of Flavio Faganello (1933–2005), curated by Katia Malatesta and Marlene Huber: twenty years after his passing, the exhibition celebrates his cultural legacy with a selection of over one hundred photographs, highlighting different aspects of an authorial vision connected to the practice of walking.
Centro Trevi – TreviLab will instead host MontagnaLibri from June 3 to 27, the international exhibition of mountain publishing, within which events and meetings will take place as part of Giugno Mese della Montagna, a cultural initiative promoted by the Office for Permanent Education of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. During the same period, MontagnaLibri Kids will be featured at the Sandro Amadori Library of the Terraferma Educational-Cultural Center, the adventurous and colorful section of books and illustrated albums dedicated to children.
From June 3 to 7, the T4Future program, the section of the Trento Film Festival dedicated to schools and new generations, will offer numerous activities and workshops. At the Vintola 18 Youth Center, thanks to the collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Kindergartens, workshops will be held for kindergarten children, while at the FilmClub Bolzano – Capitol, enrolled school classes will attend special film screenings followed by educational activities proposed in collaboration with UPAD Foundation and CAI Bolzano.
In addition to in-person activities, T4Future Scuole will also offer, from June 3 to 13, the Cinema per la scuola platform: a true cinema platform available for free to schools in Trentino – South Tyrol, through which teachers of all levels can offer their classes a high-quality film program, featuring 13 unpublished works tailored to different age groups.
The former Cappelli Bookstore will host literary presentations and meetings with authors for audiences of all ages. Events dedicated to illustrated books will be realized in collaboration with Nuova Libreria Cappelli and franzLAB within the Bella Carta series.
At the Lido Culturale Vintola, from June 3 to 27, the exhibition Mosaico Argentina will be on view, featuring photographs by Elio Orlandi, mountaineer and deep connoisseur of Argentina: a journey through the South American country, from the iconic peaks of Cerro Torre and the granite spires of Fitz Roy, to the famous Perito Moreno glacier and the arid lands of the Jujuy province.
