Transhumance - On the cattle trail to the Fanes alpine pastures
A narrow path across an impressive, wide scree desert. To this day, the farmers of La Val drive their cattle over this steep pass to the summer pastures of Fanes. On the other side of the pass, the landscape is different: limestone pavements predominate, interspersed with small and large patches of green - feeding grounds for cows and marmots.
Itinerary: Spëscia (1629 m) – Ju de Sant Antone/Sant Antone Pass (2466 m) – Pederü (1544 m)
Difficulty: difficult
Meeting: 8.30 a.m. Pederoa/La Val – car park in front of the Hotel Posta Pederoa (shuttle service to Spëscia – included)
Return: approx. 6.00 p.m. (by bus from Pederü – included)
Altitude diff.: ↑ approx.. 890 m ↓ approx. 980 m
Distance: approx. 13,5 km
Walking: approx. 5 hours
Snack: packed lunch or break in a mountain hut
The guide speaks Italian and German.
Domestic animals and strollers are not allowed.
