Traditional herding of sheep from high pasture in Vernago
About 2200 sheep and 300 goats leave from the “Niedertal-Alm“ (A) early in the morning. The sheep reach Niederjoch near the Similaun hut (3019 m) at about 9 am. They arrive in Vernago (1700m) at about 2 pm. Due to the COVID 19 situation, the return of sheep will take place this year without the hearty shepherds’ festival.
