The Tour of the Alps is a road-cycle race across South Tyrol, Trentino and Tyrol (Euregio). In 2021, Naturno/Naturns is set to be the stage and starting point of this competition. Leading from North Tyrol across the Resia Pass/Reschenpass as far as Naturno, the tour continues south the next day to Trentino. The third stage starts from Imst, in North Tyrol, before crossing over the Resia Pass along wide roads. It then descends through the Vinschgau Valley to Glorenza/Glurns, before climbing further to Frinig. After a technically difficult descent, the route leads to Naturno, via Tarres/Tarsch. The third stage covers a length of 158.7 km, requiring a great deal of tactical effort from the competitors. On the following day the fourth stage starts from Naturno passing through the Hofmahdjoch Tunnel, the highest point of the tour, to reach Valle del Chieve / Pieve di Bono in Trentino. With its 168.6 km, this stage is not only the longest of the Tour of the Alps 2020, but also the one with the greatest altitude difference.
