The human in the age of artificial intelligence
The long-awaited first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV has finally been published. It deals with the significance of AI: What opportunities does it offer? What dangers does it entail?
But it is not enough to ask whether it will be used as a tool for good or for evil; one must also ask how it is designed and what image of human beings and society is embedded in the data and models that guide it, the Pope says.
