Special: Sacred Heart hike
Evening hike towards Gospeneid, dedicated to South Tyrolean culture and tradition.
Particularly impressive: the spectacle of the Sacred Heart fires, lit each year on this special Sunday on many of South Tyrol’s mountain slopes. The custom dates back to an ancient tradition in which fire was used to symbolically honor the sun at the summer solstice.
The hike is short and suitable even for less experienced participants. Approximately 50 meters of elevation gain, with a total walking time (there and back) of around 40 minutes.
At the destination, small regional delicacies such as speck, Schüttelbrot (crispy South Tyrolean rye bread) and Kaminwurzen (smoked sausage) await. Dinner should be taken at the hotel beforehand – only light snacks will be available during the hike.
A headlamp is mandatory for the return trip.
Participation possible for children aged 12 and up.
