Deloris Van Cartier, is a wild nightclub singer and, despite herself, the inconvenient witness to a murder. To protect her, the police place her safely in a convent. Disguised as a nun and forced to behave in a way that does not suit her, she will struggle to adapt to the strict rules of behaviour imposed by the very strict Mother Superior, but will end up winning everyone over, turning an out-of-tune choir of nuns into a musical phenomenon. The musical is based on the famous film of the same name from 1992, which established Whoopi Goldberg in the unforgettable role of Deloris, "a nutcase in a nun's habit". Writing the original music is Alan Menken, eight-time Oscar winner and considered one of the most celebrated composers of musicals. In 2011 he was nominated for five Tony Awards.
