PINOCCHIO - Opening Film
PINOCCHIO returns to the cinema in a new adaptation signed by Matteo Garrone, with Oscar-winning Roberto Benigni as Geppetto and little Federico Ielapi as the most famous puppet in history: an adventure for the whole family that brings Collodi's masterpiece and his unforgettable characters back to the big screen, from the Cat and the Fox to the Talking Cricket, from Fire Eater to the Turquoise-haired Fairy. The symbol of the film, the wooden puppet that becomes a child, was in fact sculpted by Bruno Walpoth, one of the most important artists of contemporary wood carving in Val Gardena.
Walpoth made two versions of the wooden Pinocchio for the film, a trunk for the initial phase of Geppetto's work, and the completed puppet, which comes to life, until the final transformation into a real child. The last touches to the sculpture were made on the set in Tuscany.
