Conference by Prof. Hafez Haidar, nominee for the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize and the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature

The conference will focus on the precarious international situation, drawing on his unique perspective as a native of Lebanon and a prominent figure in Middle Eastern culture.

Hafez Haidar (Baalbeck, May 25, 1953) is a retired professor at the University of Pavia, a writer, poet, and translator, an Emeritus Academician, and a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017 by the Association of Jurists of the Environment and the International Court of the Environment Foundation, as well as for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2018.

President of various human rights committees and numerous literary awards, he is a Knight of the Italian Republic (June 3, 2014) and an Officer of the Republic (June 2, 2022), International General Director of the Camerata dei Poeti di Firenze, Honorary President of the Maria Grazia Cutuli Journalism Award, and Ambassador of Gariwo, Spokesperson for the Pratola Journalism Award, Rector of the WikiPoesia University of Poets.

He is the editor of the I Cervi Volanti series for the Marotta and Cafiero publishing house in Scampia. Additionally, he collaborates with Aletti Editore. He has published various books and bestsellers with Mondadori, Piemme, Rizzoli, Bompiani, Fabbri, Diarkos, Aletti, La Meridiana, and Mondolibri.

His 2001 translation of *The Thousand and One Nights*, published by Mondadori, is of considerable depth.

He is considered one of the world’s leading scholars of the Abrahamic religions (*Comparative Dictionary of Monotheistic Religions*, by Piemme).
