Anna Maria Mayr
I dedicate this exhibition to my father, who passed away in 2019. As a small child, I would listen to him playing the flugelhorn while he practised melodies from well‑known overtures. These moods and sequences of notes still resonate within me today.
I create my paintings like musical pieces — with cheerfulness, wit, tempo, and unexpected turns. Whether quiet sadness or exuberant somersaults, all of it flows into my work, which comes to life through rich colours and the luminosity of glass.
Overtures often introduce the emotional atmosphere of a musical composition. In this sense, my reverse‑glass paintings can be seen as a prelude to the viewer’s emotional response.
Born in 1957 in Brunico, where she still lives, Anna Maria Mayr found her personal artistic expression as a self‑taught painter after completing her commercial training and working for many years in administration. Since 2010, she has presented her reverse‑glass paintings as a freelance artist in various exhibitions throughout South Tyrol.
Opening: Thursday, 11th of June, 6:30 PM
Introduction: Iaco Rigo, Director of the Ladin weekly “La Usc di Ladins” and President of the Ladin Artists’ Association (EPL)
