On the footsteps of the cave bear | Guided tour
In 1987 the Conturines Cave was discovered, a 200 m long cave at 2,750 m above sea level. Inside the cave, bones of a previously unknown cave bear species were found, which later received the name Ursus ladinicus. A good 1,000 meters of altitude, partly on scree, must be climbed before reaching the world's highest cave bear discovery site. The arduous climb is compensated for by beautiful stalactite figures inside the cave, where the herbivorous bears lived about 40,000 years ago. Demanding hike, only for experienced hikers. Unsuitable for children.
