OASIS Workshop "Sexualized Violence in South Tyrol"
Recognizing and naming sexualized violence involves a shared search for possibilities of action, especially since sexualized violence affects everyone, including children and youth in South Tyrol. Because social dynamics and norms often cause this issue to be downplayed, denied, or kept silent, this workshop offers a space for information, reflection, and practical guidance. Formed as part of the study on sexualized violence in South Tyrol and the silence surrounding it, the event is tailored for professionals in youth and social work, teachers, and all interested parties. The program begins with a brainstorming session on what sexualized violence is and why it often remains invisible, followed by the presentation of the study and book highlighting the main results on sexualized violence and silence in South Tyrol. Participants will then move into group work to discuss the concrete meaning of these results for their own practice, alongside challenges and steps for prevention. Aimed at professionals in public youth work, educators, leaders of youth groups, and interested individuals, the core objective is to raise awareness, strengthen communities, and empower people to act, driven by the principle that looking away protects the perpetrators, whereas looking closely protects young people.
