Narcissus and Goldmund
The young Goldmund gets send away by his father to start his studies at the Mariabronn monastery where he gets to know the dedicated student Narcissus. Narcissus dedicates his life and soul to the strict and ascetic lifestyle of the monastery and initially, Goldmund, is doing the same. A strong friendship flourishes between the two but the impetuous and lively Goldmund soon realizes that the perspective of life offered by the monastery doesn't mach with his idea of freedom. Encouraged by Narcissus, Goldmund begins to travel where he ends up meeting the love of his life Lene. Years later Narcissus and Goldmund meet again under dramatic circumsatances ...
