High-quality world premieres of contemporary plays on topics from the European region of Tyrol.

The Merano Drama Festival is part of the “Initiative for World and First Performances.” Since 2017, this cultural initiative has brought high-quality world premieres of contemporary plays on topics from the European region of Tyrol to the stage. In recent years, numerous new works have been created, many of which premiered as part of the Merano Festival. Thousands of visitors from across the region have attended these performances and received them with great enthusiasm. This concept is unique throughout the Alpine region. The works address current issues and are valued by theater experts for their relevance and artistic quality. The event series is held in German.
