With her performance Glacier Elegy, Jaanika Peerna (Tallinn/New York) confronts the climate crisis, specifically the melting of glaciers. The artist uses ice as a totemic representation of strength, beauty, and ecological fragility.
As an artist in residence, Peerna is hosted at Villa Arnica, where she explores the garden and its essential foundation: the public good of water. Her work includes drawing, performance, and installation, all stemming from the rhythms and movements of the body.

Peerna lives between Tallinn and New York, and her works have been exhibited in internationally renowned galleries and museums, including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington, D.C.), the Zuccaire Gallery (Stony Brook University, NY), Real Art Ways (Hartford, CT), and the Espronceda Center for Art and Culture (Barcelona, Spain).
