Lana Passion Plays 2023

Brought to life for the first time decades ago by the Braunsbergbühne theater, the Lana Passion Plays constitute a regular and significant highlight in the cultural works of the local community and neighboring area and have - justifiably - acquired a reputation over time that reaches beyond the borders of our region. For many lovers of culture, helpers, volunteers, organizers and artists, the plays offer a rare opportunity to express in an impressive manner their religion as they live it and to familiarize a wide audience with the miraculous mystery of the suffering of Christ, the transfiguration and the resulting salvation of mankind. Now for the first time in 2016 choirs are to be included in this project (under the title "Miserere", text and direction by Peter Huber), who will actively enter the scene and thus enrich the Passion Plays with elements of classical oratory. The recognized high level of training of the musicians in this region (composition Josef Sagmeister) will enhance the path that has already begun to be taken with a very high quality aspect and contribute towards underlining the special character of these South Tyrolean Passion Plays.
