In the historic Ansitz Rosengarten in Lana, chamber music meets the wonders of the universe. The concert “Music Meets the Stars” combines the expressive sound of a string quartet with fascinating insights into astronomy.

The evening features the Ludus Quartet, formed by Ivo Crepaldi and Andrea Ferroni on violin, Alexander Monteverde on viola and Ivo Brigadoi on cello. Founded in 2001, the ensemble was born from a shared passion for exploring the rich and demanding repertoire of the string quartet.

The musicians refined their training with internationally renowned chamber musicians such as Alberto Martini, Piero Farulli and Andrea Nannoni, and took part in the European Academy for String Quartet in Fiesole, where they worked with legendary quartet players including Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartet), Norbert Brainin (Amadeus Quartet), Milan Škampa (Smetana Quartet) and Piero Farulli (Quartetto Italiano).

The Ludus Quartet’s repertoire ranges from classical and romantic works to contemporary compositions. Alongside traditional quartet literature, the ensemble also performs in other chamber music formations such as duo and quintet settings. Their concert activity has taken them across Italy, and they have received several prizes in chamber music competitions.

Joining the musicians on stage is Dr. David Gruber, an astrophysicist and science communicator. Through engaging storytelling he invites the audience on an imaginative journey through the solar system. As the music reflects the atmosphere of different planets, Dr. Gruber reveals fascinating facts, myths and discoveries from the world of astronomy.

The musical journey through space ultimately returns to Earth, with a special performance of “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson. Released in 1995, the song became one of the most powerful musical calls for environmental awareness, addressing themes such as deforestation, pollution and the loss of biodiversity.

An evening where music, science and imagination come together, inviting the audience to discover the universe from a new perspective.
