Jazz Hike to St. Martin am Schneeberg with "Brazilian Motions"
With “Brazilian Motions”, the Allgäu free spirit Matthias Schriefl sends his ensemble on a hike through the South Tyrolean mountains.
Brazilian musical styles such as choro and baião permeate the mountain landscape as the musicians, divided into two groups and accompanied by the audience, ascend from different directions. Whilst one group ascends from the Val Passiria, the other hikes from the Val Ridanna to the mining village of St. Martin am Schneeberg (2,355 m). Where miners once sang and played music in their spare time, the two jazz groups merge in a collective high.
The central texts by Patricia Cruz on ‘Maria’ as a symbol of the divine feminine form the basis for a creative interplay between intimate introspection and explosive virtuosity.
