International Museum Day - KID'S LAB
To mark International Museum Day, the Neustift abbey museum is presenting a Laboratory for children of 6 and over This is a hands-on experience for children. The children use plastic waste such as empty plastic bottles or rigid plastic film to make various objects, figures or animals. These are enlarged as under a microscope and projected onto the wall using an overhead projector and a polarization filter. Large, colourful, dynamic light pictures are created to show the children that something beautiful and new can be created out of something as ugly as plastic waste. Assisting the children is the artist Martina Dal Brollo. She is one of the well-known young artists responsible for the creation of the Water Light Festival Neustift. Her work ‘Polarized View’ can be seen in the abbey museum and is based on the techniques that the children can try out. Saturday 18 May, 10am-12pm /12.45-5pm (participants can join in at any time) Location: granary (Kornspeicher) (above the Stiftskeller, behind the Mühlsaal, where the ABITARSI exhibition is located) Price: free of charge (if convenient, bring empty plastic bottles or packaging made of rigid plastic film)
