On April 24, one of the world’s most renowned string quartets, the Hagen Quartett, will perform in Bolzano for the last time. In 2026, the Salzburg-based musicians are engaged in an international farewell tour and, after this year, will no longer perform together on stage as a quartet.

The Hagen Quartet boasts an unparalleled career spanning four decades. Founded in 1981, it has been marked by an impressive series of awards at the most prestigious international chamber music competitions, as well as an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon, for which they have recorded more than 45 CDs. These recordings, dedicated to exploring an almost limitless string quartet repertoire, have helped define the ensemble’s distinctive artistic profile.

For a great number of young string quartets, the Hagen Quartet represents a model of quality, stylistic diversity, and commitment to the interpretation of the composers featured in their programs.

In their final concert in Bolzano, they will perform String Quartet No. 11 by Ludwig van Beethoven, the String Quartet in A minor by Franz Schubert (“Rosamunde”), and the “Langsamer Satz” (“slow movement”) by Anton Webern.
