Leopold Henneberger plays his program of classical and romantic guitar music. These two musical eras cover practically the entire 19th century.

And when it came to the guitar, it was the Spanish and Italians who brought their music to audiences throughout Europe. Paris and Vienna were the undisputed centers, where guitarists such as Fernando Sor and Mauro Giuliani enjoyed great success in concert halls and salons. In his new program, Leopold Henneberger focuses on this period, which is often neglected by guitarists, but which offers wonderful compositions that are rarely included in programs, completely unjustifiably. The program ranges from Mauro Giuliani's classically beautiful variations on a theme by Handel to an arrangement of Isaac Albéniz's bravura piece “Asturias,” which, with its music on the threshold of the 20th century, ushered in a golden age of Spanish music.
