Guided tour through the castle of Karneid
The castle of Karneid stands imposingly above the Eggental Valley gorge and is the symbol of the municipality of Karneid | Cornedo. It was built around 1200 by the Lords of Greifenstein and is one of the best-preserved castles in the region, which has largely retained its late medieval appearance. Particularly impressive are
- the excellently preserved ensemble of a medieval castle complex
- the optimal use of the building site for the construction of defence, residential and farm buildings
- the interesting rooms inside, especially the restored room in the northern, old palace wing and the rooms with partial or complete wood panelling, some of which are still in use today
- the castle chapel with some well-preserved frescoes
Although the castle is privately owned, it can be visited on certain dates as part of an expert guided tour.
Registration required (until Thursday at 12 pm), minimum number of participants: 10 people
