This hike takes us through the Trudner Horn Nature Park. The Trudner Horn Nature Park is a South Tyrolean nature park covering an area of 6,851 hectares and including the municipalities of Altrei, Montan, Neumarkt, Salurn, and Truden. It is bordered in the north by the foothills of the Fleimstal (Trentino), in the southeast by the Cembra Valley (Trentino), and in the west by the Etsch Valley between Neumarkt and the Salurner Klause. It owes its name to the 1,781-meter-high Trudner Horn, a mountain of the Fleimstal Alps. Starting from the village of Altrei, located on the border with Trentino, we trek along a forest road to the Zis Sattel. From here, it's a slightly steeper ascent to the Hornalm, situated at 1,700 meters above sea level. From there, a trail leads us in approximately 1.5 hours to the Krabes Alm. Depending on our mood, we are free to take our midday break at one of the picturesque mountain huts. After a midday rest with traditional alpine dishes, we return to Altrei via scenic forest paths and interesting moorlands. At the end of the hike, there is a special treat: a visit to a local tavern.
