Guided hike through the Latemar Labyrinth
Between open alpine pastures and impressive rock formations, the Latemar reveals a particularly unique side. A hike that pleasantly combines natural history, physical activity, and quiet places.
Tour description:
We start by taking bus line 186 to the Nigerstraße junction, where our hike begins. From there, we follow the trail across the wide Latemar meadows, known for their open alpine pastures and beautiful views. We then reach the famous Latemar Labyrinth, where the path winds its way through huge rock blocks left behind by a prehistoric landslide. After the labyrinth, we continue on to the Mitterleger and eventually reach Lake Mittersee, a seasonal forest lake that carries water depending on the time of year. From there, we descend to the Grand Hotel Carezza and return to Tiers by public bus.
Walking time: 4–5 hours
Ascent: approx. 500 m
Descent: approx. 500 m
Distance: 10.5 km
Difficulty: technically moderate hike; good basic fitness and sure-footedness required
