Eine Reise durch Jahrmillionen der Erdgeschichte unternehmen Sie bei einer Wanderung durch die Bletterbachschlucht

Hike between steep rock faces past rushing waterfalls and colourful rock layers, discover fossilised plant remains, fossilised saurian tracks and traces of minerals: a guided tour through the GEOPARC Bletterbach is a special experience tracing the history of the Earth.

The guided hike begins with an overview of the special features of the Bletterbach Gorge at the Aldein Visitor Centre. A forest path then leads into the deep porphyry gorge made of volcanic rock. From there, the trail continues upstream to the colourful and varied sandstone layers, where the valley widens. Scientists have found valuable plant fossils and impressive saurian tracks in these layers – and with a bit of luck, the GEOPARC guide will be able to show the group some of the finds right there on the spot. The guides' explanations bring to life the landscapes, climate and inhabitants of the time when the rock layers of the Bletterbach were formed 260 million years ago. The hike leads to the large waterfall, then back a short distance, where the steep Jagersteig trail leads out of the gorge and a wide forest path leads back to the visitor centre.
