Fantastic Fungi: The Film
The Capitol Cinema in Bolzano will screen the German-language film “Fantastic Fungi – The Magical World Beneath Our Feet” on February 26 in collaboration with the South Tyrol Museum of Nature.
The 81-minute documentary by director Louie Schwartzberg takes the audience on a visually stunning journey into the world of fungi. Spectacular time-lapse and macro photography reveal what normally remains hidden, while clearly conveying fundamental knowledge from the field of mycology.
The film expresses great enthusiasm for the importance of fungi and their potential applications, particularly in medicine. Its emotionally charged narrative invites viewers to marvel, while also encouraging a sober and critical perspective. The result is a fascinating and thought-provoking look at a kingdom of life that is often underestimated.
The film will be shown next Thursday, February 26, at 6:00 p.m. at the Capitol Cinema, Dr. Streiter Street 6, in Bolzano. Admission is free.
The screening takes place as part of the current exhibition at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature, “Funga – A Hidden World.” The exhibition highlights a group of organisms whose ecological and cultural significance remains largely underestimated to this day. It invites visitors to discover the diversity of fungi, explore the complex relationships between fungi, their environment, and humans, and gain new perspectives on a world that has long been overlooked.
